Lashing straps emerge as indispensable protagonists in ensuring that roads provide safe and efficient journeys. Below are some key factors for choosing a quality belt.
BELT RESISTANCE
The belt must be manufactured in a way that meets the load capacity of the assembly, as when a seam is made, it suffers loss of capacity due to the tensions created by it, as well as the rupture of some microfilaments. Robustec sizes its straps to meet this need. Therefore, some straps, for example, are made with a resistance of up to 60% greater than the breaking load. Example: a 3T belt is made with up to 4.8T so that once sewn it meets the capacity established for the set.
Be careful, some companies manufacture the straps and test them before sewing and assembling the sets. They do this with the aim of reducing costs, thus deceiving the consumer and creating unfair competition, as this way does not guarantee the ability to load of the sewn set.
ABSORPTION OF WATER AND PARTICLES
It is important that the belt has a low water and solid particle absorption rate, so that it has better handling and guarantees the integrity of the microfilaments. This will extend the useful life of the belt and guarantee its resistance.
Robustec is concerned with the choice of yarn, the way in which the weaving is done (making the ribbon more solid and with less space between the yarns, making it difficult for water and solid particles to enter), the choice of materials and the shape how the pigmentation is done, in order to leave the thread protected, reducing water absorption as well as the possibility of impregnating solid particles in the belt.
SEWING

Robustec uses a polyamide thread suitable for sewing the lashing assembly, guaranteeing the load capacity and useful life of the assembly. Some competitors use polypropylene, nylon or cotton threads, which do not have the same elasticity and cause the seams to break during use, in addition to drying out or rotting over time.
These lines also do not offer the necessary resistance in terms of load capacity and break more easily when in contact with metal parts.
SEAM DESIGN

The seam design is essential to guarantee the capacity of the set. Sewing must be done in a way that guarantees homogeneity of working tensions.
But if the seam is not homogeneous, some threads will be overloaded, breaking much earlier than the others and compromising the total capacity of the belt.
PLOT

Our straps have a greater number of threads in the weave, ensuring that they are stronger and more resistant and also increasing the useful life of the strap. The greater number of wefts prevents the warp threads from moving apart, causing an opening in the tape and causing it to get tangled in the load or bodywork. This causes excessive effort at these points and the microfilaments break. Robustec uses an auxiliary weft thread, which has the function of preventing the weft from unraveling if the threads break during handling. This guarantees greater integrity and useful life of the belt.
SHRED

Robustec straps are manufactured with 100% virgin threads, which guarantees the capacity and useful life of the strap. They are made so that they have a smooth and homogeneous surface, reducing the breakage of microfilaments when in contact with the bodywork or cargo, giving a bad appearance, appearing frayed.
The belt must periodically undergo a technical analysis process, as the filaments may break during handling, compromising capacity and requiring disposal.
PIGMENT
After weaving, Robustec belts go through the pigmentation process, giving color and shine to the belt. Pigmentation increases the useful life of the belt, as it gives the thread a protective layer that prolongs its useful life.
There are several pigmentation and dyeing processes to know if the pigmentation is of quality. A simple and practical test can be done: rub the tape over a white sheet of paper. If the pigmentation is transferred to the paper sheet, it means that it is not of good quality.
BLACK STRIP
Robustec is a pioneer in adopting the use of a black stripe on the belt to indicate capacity in a quick, practical and visual way. This makes it easier to choose and use the material, both when buying and when using.
